In this presentation, the general context of the photonics on silicon and photovoltaics research areas will be first explained. Then, the work performed by the FOTON laboratory on the III-V integration on silicon in the pseudomorphic approach in the past 7 years will be reviewed through (i) the present knowledges and results obtained on the GaP/Si interface, (ii) the development of nanostructures-based lasers architectures on GaP and Si substrates, and (iii) the work done on III-V/Si photovoltaic solar cells. Finally, a discussion will be proposed on the different prospects and the possible evolution of the research program.
